Career Development Center: Resume

Resource for resumes, cover letters, interview skills, graduate school, interview skills, and job search.

Why is a Resume Important?

A resume is a formal document used to summarize and present your skills, qualifications, and experience related to a position. It is important to keep your resume current because opportunities happen quickly!

Today's resume must be AI-friendly. Current data suggests that 80-85% of all resumes are scanned by artificial intelligence so it is important to craft your resume to pass a scanner and be pleasing to human resource personnel. Because it is important to avoid templates, the James C. Denneny Jr. Career Development Center has provided pre-formatted resumes to help you create an AI-friendly resume. Style guides have also been designed to help you create content that captures and communicates your qualifications, skills, and experience.
