Crash Course - Sociology: Crash Course, the free online educational video channel, has a 37-episode course on sociology. Each episode ranges from 10-12 minutes in length and provides background information on a wide array of sociological topics.

PBS Frontline - Social Issues: "Thought-provoking reporting and documentaries on the forces shaping society and culture, from technology, health care and sexual harassment to gun laws, human trafficking and more" (From the webpage).

The Society Pages: Headquartered out of the University of Minnesota's sociology department, Society Pages is a website that discusses sociological research through the format of short articles, blogs, podcasts, and etcetera.

The Sociological Cinema: The Sociological Cinema is a webpage with content relating to different areas of sociological study. Read The Sociological Cinema blog, view the learning modules, or browse the curated collection of annotated videos and images.

United States Census Bureau: As main webpage for the U.S. Census Bureau, this site provides links to various maps, surveys, data sets, and other resources, such as the American Community Survey (ACS).

  • Data.census.gov (Formally The American FactFinder): Data.census.gov is the data exploration tool offered by the United States Census Bureau.

Data.gov: "The Home of the U.S. Government's Open Data" (Source: Data.gov). This webpage features several tools and resources that provide access to over 297,628 datasets.

ICPSR (Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research): ICPSR is a consortium of over 800 academic institutions that provides access to social science research data.

The General Social Survey (GSS): "The General Social Survey (GSS) is a nationally representative survey of adults in the United States conducted since 1972. The GSS collects data on contemporary American society in order to monitor and explain trends in opinions, attitudes and behaviors" (Source: About the GSS).

The World Factbook: Managed by the CIA, The World Factbook provides basic information and data on over 265 countries worldwide. Features include Country Comparisons, weekly data updates, and etcetera.

Bureau of Justice Statistics: The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is a statistical agency of the Department of Justice. It collects data on "crime, criminal offenders, victims of crime, and the operation of justice systems at all levels of government" (Source: About BJS).

Pew Research Center: Pew Research is a public opinion think-tank that monitors social trends and attitudes. Pew Research has datasets available on their website.
