This guide is designed to be used in connection with National Library Week activities at Smiley Memorial Library.

National Library Week

April 8-12, Smiley Memorial Library will be celebrating National Library Week with games, activities, and contests, so make sure to stop by and the library and check everything out! Programs will include:

  • Photo Caption Contest: Add funny library captions to digitized photos from the CMU Archives and Special Collections!
  • Free Solar Eclipse Glasses: On Monday, April 8 at approximately 1:53 p.m., a partial solar eclipse should be visible from campus. Stop by the Library earlier on that day and pick up a free pair of solar eclipse glasses. The glasses will be handed out on a first-come first-served basis, so make sure to come early!
  • Book Emoji Game: Test your ability to recognize book titles written only with emojis in this 20-question quiz!
  • Blackout Poetry: April is National Poetry Month, so make sure to celebrate by creating blackout poetry! Supplies will be available at the front desk in the Library.
  • Coloring: Coloring sheets will be available in the activity room on the second floor of the library!
