This guide provides a list of resources for students enrolled in Introduction to Infectious Diseases, BI120. The guide consists of multiple sections, each of which is designed to assist students with research for the course's semester-long project.

The Writing Center

Writing Center

The Writing Center at CMU is available to provide assistance for students interested in improving their writing. Students can make an appointment with a Writing Center Associate for one-on-one help and guidance

Schedule an Appointment

To schedule an appointment with the Writing Center, visit online portal or use the CMU Academic Support app on your iPad. If you have never before scheduled an appointment with a Tutor or a Writing Center Associate, you will first need to register for an account. If you have used the scheduling portal before, enter your email address and password. Make sure to choose "Writing Center Schedule" before clicking Log In.

Finding the Writing Center

The Writing Center is located on the second floor of Cupples Hall. When you enter Smiley Memorial Library from the main entrance, you will continue past the front desk and head straight down the ramp. The Writing Center will be to the left.

Smiley Memorial Library has many resources available to students and faculty, including, but not limited to:

  • A collection of books and reference materials available for checkout
  • Textbooks and other course readings set aside on reserve
  • Interlibrary loan services
  • Research consultations
  • Assistance with APA and other citation styles

If you have questions about research, citation styles, how to find resources, or any other related topics, please contact the Library! Managing Sources with Zotero

Zotero is a free online tool available for you to collect, organize, and manage citation information for your research sources. Zotero is available through a web browser, or you can download an app for your iPad. Please note that the app does not have the full functionality of the web application. Please make sure to double check and citations generated by Zotero for accuracy and correct formatting.

If you have never used Zotero before, you will need to create a free account.
