Mission Statement (Adopted 8/22/23): Smiley Memorial Library seeks to be an essential part of student, faculty, and staff success at Central Methodist University. To support our users’ informational needs, we strive to offer academically relevant resources and services, support information literacy and scholarship, and maintain a welcoming and inclusive space for all our users. The library will be hosting a series of activities and events April 29 through May 10 for finals week. When you need a study break, come on over and relax at the library!

  • Free coffee, free snacks, and relaxing creative activities like coloring and origami.
  • “The Who Said It Game: Swift or Shakespeare Edition.” Participate at any time April 29 – May 2 and compete to win a prize!
  • Round off the week by stopping by the library on May 6th from 2:00-4:00 pm for the PAWS for a Study Break event and destress with dogs!

Smiley Memorial Library will be moving to a new library catalog on May 22, 2024. During that time, there will be some interruption in our book catalog. Service to Central Search, our databases, interlibrary loan, and our Libby audiobooks and ebooks will remain uninterrupted.
Important dates to remember include:

  • April 18: MOBIUS catalog freeze
  • May 3: All books and other Library items due. Reserve textbooks and equipment may still be checked out through May 9.
  • May 9: All Library items, including reserve, are due. No exceptions.
  • May 22: New catalog is live!
